We are seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk to join the team of an exciting, community minded company in San Juan.
The Accounting Associate is responsible for assisting the accounting operations by maintaining and recording documentation regarding accounts payable and accounts receivables, and on special assignments, particularly in the execution of specific tasks during the implementation of an initiative or in support of accounting and finance operations. This position reports directly to the Finance and Accounting Manager.
Essential Functions
- Provide accounting and clerical assistance to the finance and accounting department
- Support the accounting operations related to accounts receivable.
- Support the accounting operations related to accounts payable.
- Review the finance email account to revise and organize all documentation received via email, in order to channel to the correct team member.
- Contact vendors and/or costumers (external and internal) to notify them of any documents or actions needed in order to complete a pending process.
- Maintain bookkeeping databases and spreadsheets, updating donor and costumer information as needed; and provide other clerical support necessary record cash receipts of the organization.
- Prepare, validate, and apply payments for bank deposits performed by the Accounting Associate (AP/AR)
- Gather, organize, and register credit card invoice with its corresponding supporting documents.
- Mail Vendor Payment checks, as needed.
- Assist in biweekly Payroll processes.
- Assist on Federal and other Grants invoicing and financial reporting processes.
- Provide financial status information by preparing special reports and completing special projects.
- Serve as Accounting Associate backup and perform other duties, as needed.
- Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal and state financial regulations.
- Handles sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity.
- Accounting cycle knowledge.
- Proficiency in computers, knowledge in Excel is a must.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field and a minimum of 1- 2 years of experience in accounting preferred.
- Basic understanding of GAAP and financial principles for non-profits.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills;
- Fully Bilingual.
