 Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager/Internal Auditor

Our client, a regional underwriter headquartered in Denver, Colorado seeks a quality assurance and compliance manager/internal auditor to support their multi-state, multi-location title, and underwriter operations.

With more than 50 years of experience serving Colorado, Minnesota, Utah, and North Dakota in real property transactions, our client is uniquely suited to provide title insurance information and underwriting services to its members and to consumers. JOB OVERVIEW
Perform and/or supervise staff for on-site and remote audits for underwriting agents in four states. Provide training and underwriting and closing support for independent agents of title underwriter. Work with the overall leadership team for a dynamic, growing regional title insurance underwriter to reach company goals and to achieve effective agent oversight. Implement new oversight techniques to keep abreast of changing regulatory landscape. Participate in technology development. Provide a balance between ALTA Best Practices compliance with underwriting standards and helping agents understand how to do so effectively while still managing their business operations.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform both on-site and remote audits in multiple states
  • Oversee agent audit and compliance program
  • Supervise and provide leadership to quality assurance and compliance (audit) staff
  • Analyze data, identify new oversight criteria and techniques as well as develop performance standards for agents that assist in the identification of problematic behavior.
  • Review agent reports and information received during agent oversight committee meetings and other available resources to identify agents that may present a risk and use that assessment to create an auditing schedule.
  • Be a key member of the team tasked with developing and directing enhancements to the company's web-based underwriting system to improve service to agents, agent oversight, and administrative efficiency.
  • Promote and train ALTA Best Practices with agents and employees.
  • Update ATGF ALTA Best Practices as required.
  • Work with appropriate resources for premium remittance.
  • Make recommendations of agent terminations when appropriate.
  • Conduct new agent review and onboarding processes including training.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Duties are performed in an office environment with sitting for long periods of time, utilizing standard office equipment and personal computer. Travel is required.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Thorough knowledge of escrow and accounting practices for title companies
  • Knowledge of title underwriting standards.
  • Familiarity with closing and title search processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, both in person and by phone.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and to express ideas and suggestions with candor and professionalism.
  • Receptiveness to new business approaches and technology.
  • Experience with 3-way reconciliations – book, bank and trial balance
  • Familiarity with closing and title search processes
  • Proven skills in a variety of software products and aptitude for learning new systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, both in person and by phone.
  • Ability to strike a balance between agent accountability and the need to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and to express ideas and suggestions with candor and professionalism.
  • Ability to self-direct and multi-task in a high-stress environment.
 
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
  • Five plus years of direct experience working in the title industry
  • Microsoft applications; experience with title software and Quickbooks a plus
  • Undergraduate degree a benefit
